YouTube is the second biggest search engine in the world. Therefore millions of users visit YouTube every day. Recently YouTube got its biggest design change in 12 years. It’s not just the aesthetics, they also included some brand new feature for both smartphone and desktop. They even changed the logo completely. Let’s have a look.
New Design
The old logo was more focused on the word “Tube”. Therefore it was bordered with red. Take a look.
The new logo is pretty different from the older one. As a result, the red bordering is completely removed and now it has a play button in front of it.
The logo change is not the end of the story. The website for both desktop and smartphone went through a total revamp. Therefore the website now looks more minimalistic. Most of all navigating through the menu is much easier now. Christopher Bettig the head of YouTube’s art department said, “It’s an evolution, not a revolution,”.
New Features
YouTube introduced lots of new feature with this update. After the makeover, the navigation tab is moved and now sits at the bottom. They also included a whole new library and accounts tab. The new YouTube app now allows users to use different gestures. Therefore now you can swipe left in the YouTube app to access the previous video. Or you can swipe right to go on the next video. You can also change the playback speed from your smartphone. Before the update, this feature was only available for desktops and laptops. Other cool new features include “Dark Mode” for saving your eyes at night, typeface and colour schemes.
YouTube will soon launch 2 new video format. Supposedly a square and vertical video format so you can watch in full screen without going in directly in horizontal format. They might change the suggested video section too in future. They are already working on it.
