Top 5 Iconic Psychological Thriller Movies Of All Time

Who doesn’t like psychological thrillers, I do. So I thought why not make a list of my favourite psychological thrillers of all time. As a result, I came up with this list of my top 5 favourites of all time. You might have a different opinion on this list and that’s fine because there are so many good psychological thrillers. Picking 5 from them is really a hard work.

“The Machinist” (2004)

This is one of the most iconic psychological thrillers in my opinion. Christian Bale’s acting and great commitment to the character gave shape to the movie. Therefore by the commitment I mean he literally loses weight in front of the audience. It is the story of a troubled industrial worker whose sleeps deprivation drives him crazy. Therefore he fails to understand if he is awake or asleep. But the audience certainly does.

“American Psycho” (2000)

probably the best psychological thriller of all time. Starring Christian Bale as the psychotic businessman and therefore the serial killer. The movie is an adaption of a novel by author Bret Easton Ellis, published in 1991. In conclusion, if you haven’t watched this movie go watch it now.

“SE7EN” (1995)

This psycho thriller was directed by David Fincher. In my opinion, he is the best director of psychological thrillers. Proved by his other movies like “The Game” and “Gone Girl”. Therefore Se7en is a true masterpiece starring Brad Pit and Morgan Freeman. The storyline follows two detectives and their hunt for a serial killer who uses the 7 sins as an inspiration. This nail biting psycho thriller must be in your watchlist.

“MEMENTO” (2000)

Christopher Nolan is back again to mess with your heads with his iconic psychological thriller “Memento”. Starring Guy Pearce as a man who suffers from short term memory loss after the death of his wife. Therefore this film is best enjoyed by multiple viewing points. To get the grasp of Nolan’s complex yet satisfying storytelling.

“The Silence Of The Lambs” (1991)

This movie is directed by Jonathan Demme and arguably one of the best psychological thrillers of the 20th century. Consequently, the story follows a rookie FBI agent and her search for a psychopath killer. As a result, this movie manages to send chills down your spine. The actors manage to provide great acting skills and made this film an iconic movie.
