OnePlus 5T’s predecessor OnePlus 5 will soon have the Face Unlock feature due to users demand. This is good news for the phone owners whose handsets just received Android Oreo treatment on Christmas.
Late this year, the company introduced OnePlus 5T with the Face Unlock Security feature, this led to the OnePlus 5 users demand the feature as well.
Over the weekend, Carl Pei, the Company’s co-founder took to Tweeter and told the fans that OnePlus 5’s face ID is coming soon.
The company announced the good news just weeks after rolling out OxygenOS 4.7.4 to OnePlus 5T earlier this month.
The feature is similar to the iPhone X’s Face ID feature. Although it is not as secure as Apple’s, it adds another layer of protection to the Smartphone that already has a fingerprint sensor built into the OnePlus 5’s home button.
Unlike other phone companies, OnePlus has set an example of being attentive to its customers requests. The company does not restrict the newest features to its latest phones but keeps the slightly older model up to date with the latest features.
OnePlus 5 and 5T Similarities /Differences
As pointed out by Android Police, OnePlus 5 came before OnePlus 5T, but the two are similar regarding hardware. The only differences between the two are:
- OnePlus 5T screen display stretches a little taller to fit a 6-inch display.
- OnePlus 5T has a slightly updated dual back camera, but the selfie cameras for both phones are the same.
The feature does not work as a sensitive transaction or payment security. Instead, it is designed as a phone’s lock or unlock security feature. According to the Verge report, unlike Apple, OnePlus isn’t forcing the Face Unlock feature to the users as the only biometric system. OnePlus users can use either the fingerprint sensor or the Face ID to unlock the phone.
