The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has named Garcia Johnson the new Golden Globe ambassador. The event took place on Wednesday at Catch, LA, in West Hollywood.
The HFPA announced the honoree, who is also daughter to the famous movie star and retired wrestler, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson on Wednesday, announcing the change of the honoree’s title at the same time.
“As we look forward to the 75th anniversary of the Golden Globe Awards, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association members decided to expand this role to embody the HFPA’s philanthropic efforts year-round,” The honoree will now be referred to as the Golden Globe Ambassador and we could not think of a better representative than Simone to carry on this tradition, as her values closely reflect everything the HFPA stands for,” said Meher Tatna, HFPA President.
In a statement, Garcia Johnson expressed her hopes for the new role, saying that she hopes to be a role model to young people across the globe during her time as the 75th Golden Globe ambassador.
The 15-year model also announced that she’d be partnering with GlobalGirl, an association that supports young women from disadvantaged areas who want to pursue journalism. The organization, which is also supported by HFPA helps the ladies by supplying them with the tools they require to attain their journalism goals.
The outgoing Golden Globe Ambassadors, Sylvester Stallone’s three daughters; Sophia, Sistine, and Scarlet introduced Simone Garcia Johnson alongside Meher Tatna.
Garcia comes after other daughters and sons of renowned Hollywood actors like Laura Darn and Dakota Johnson who have previously represented Golden Globe and evolved to stars in the process.
Simone Garcia Johnson accompanied his father, The Rock, earlier this year as he won The People’s Choice Award for favorite actor in premium series.
Her role will be to escort honorees on and off the stage. And also to carry the statuettes
