Jose Mourinho is looking to strengthen his Manchester United squad in January as he eyes Valencia’s midfielder Carlos Soler. According to reports, the club has put aside £30 million for the deal.
Manchester United has experienced a significant drop in points following their 2-1 loss to Huddersfield Town on Saturday and the barren draw they suffered last weekend at Anfield stadium. The results are a complete opposite for Manchester city which continued to dominate the premier league by beating Burnley 3-0 over the weekend.
The transfer window is barely two months away, and Manchester United is already strategizing on how they can improve the team to be able to match City’s speed in pursuit of the title.
Number one on Mourinho’s strategy is Carlos Soler as United are reported to be already in talks with Valencia.
Mourinho is losing players like Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, and Ander Herrera this summer, and the only guy who seems fit enough to stabilize the team working with likes of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba is the 20-year-old Valencia’s midfielder. Soler has been a front liner in Valencia for two seasons since 2015.
Although Carlos Soler is attached to a release clause of £75 million, reports show that Valencia is ready to accept a £30 million in cash to release the star.
The United has a chance to revive their spirits this Tuesday as they collide head-on with Swansea City for the Carabao Cup last 16-tie, and on Saturday as they meet with Tottenham Hotspurs on their home ground of Old Trafford.
