Just the other day, Facebook implemented Messaging Streaks, Instagram Live Filters, and a standalone Instagram Direct Messaging app. So now, it’s working on yet another new and fancy feature called “World Effects.”
The new messaging service introduced by Messenger’s mother Facebook brings the service closer to making Snapchat unnecessary.
World Effects is a Facebook Messenger app that incorporates with AR features just like their rival app, Snapchat. The feature lets you use 3D objects to your surroundings.
World Effects allows you to put real-world objects like hearts floating over someone’s head, or an arrow to point the exact location or object in a panorama image.
Furthermore, you can add word bubble stickers like “love,” “bae,” “heart” and “miss you” on the live camera feed just for fun or better yet, to spice up things as you chat.
The feature is activated using the camera app on your Facebook Messenger. Unlike static stickers, 3D stickers require messenger cameras to identify the objects and register the object’s location. The sticker remains put in cases where the phone’s location changes from one point to the other.
How to Activate World Effects
To add World Effects on your Facebook Messenger:
- Open the Messenger camera, (thus from your inbox or from an existing conversation).
- Tap on the camera’s icon
- Scroll to select the effect you want from the camera effects
- Then, tap on an effect you have picked to add it to the image that you want to share
Currently, the World Effects has a minimal set of effects available, they comprise of a unicorn, a heart, an arrow and a few word bubbles.
Apart from World Effects, Facebook is rolling out holiday features. Some of these features are live effects, Hanukkah, Kwanza-themed stickers, customized holiday cards, Christmas cards, Holiday photo montages as well as effects from the live broadcast.
