Bad Boys TV Show Spinoff Lands at NBC with a Commitment, Starring Gabriel Union

The Bad Boys TV series project appeared to the marketplace last week, presented by the producer of the Bad Boys I and II, Jerry Bruckheimer. The work centers on special agent Syd Burnett, a character played by Gabriel Union in Bad Boys II in 2003.

The blacklist writers, Margolis and Sonnier, are also the writers of the new TV series which doesn’t have a title yet. The special agent Syd Burnett is moving across the country; the last time we saw her was taking down a drug syndicate in Miami, and today she’s in Los Angeles Police Department.

She hopes to leave her past behind and enjoy the pleasures LA has to offer. But she doesn’t know that her partner Nancy McKenna is about to complicate things. Detective Syd Burnett leads an unapologetic lifestyle, and McKenna learns that it’s her partner’s way of masking a deep personal secret.

The executive producers are blacklist producers Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier alongside Gabriel union, Jerry Bruckheimer’s TV, Belgrad, Jeff Gaspin of Primary Wave entertainment, Littman and KristieAnn Reed and Jeff Morrone.

In the Bad Boys duology, Burnett plays the younger sister of Det. Lt. Marcus Burnett played by Martin Laurence. She was also involved in a romantic relationship with Lt. Burnett’s partner, Det. Lt. Mike Lawry – Will Smith.

The idea of Gabriel Union starring in the TV series spinoff originated from her managers, the Wave Entertainment. The series will be the company’s first big sale since the former NBCUniversal TV entertainment’s Jeff Gaspin became the president.

BET made Union available for the Bad Boys TV series when they announced that her Being Mary Jane would end in 2018 with a season finale two hours long.

CAA is the representative of Union, Jerry Bruckheimer TV, Margolis, and Sonnier. Attorney Patti Felker and Wave entertainment will also represent Union.

Gabriel Union is also a prominent bestselling author.
