Apple filed Patent for Launching Foldable Tablets and Start from 2020


The concept of the flip phones has been for some time. Lenovo showcased a folding tablet prototype which becomes phones with dual screen. Samsung is gossiped to be working on a foldable smartphone. Apple is set to join foldable smartphone bandwagon.


The company has filed a patent application for an unnamed foldable device that can be ‘opened and closed like a book’. It follows the gossips that the company was working with LG brand on future foldable iPhones.

Filed patent:

A patent application was published by the US patent and trademark office said that the electronic device may have a flexible portion which allows the device to fold. The device has the flexible display and this display may have a bending region which allows the display to bend for a long time along with a bend when the device is folded.

Apple has decided to link up with LG. Samsung is not owing to the fear that features could be leaked as Samsung is its arch opponent.

Folded iPhones:

The folded iPhones panel production could start from 2020. LG has reported that its flip OLED panel prototype. It has been upgrading the durability and also the yield rate.

The company started OLED production for phones at its E5 plant.

Samsung could become the first company to launch a foldable smartphone.

The smartphone is said to be in the development for more than 5years which is dubbed as Galaxy X. Galaxy X will have two 5-inch and 6-inch screens and run on Qualcomm’s processor along with Samsung features such as iris scanner and face scanner.
